Life Overseas

Long time since I peeped into blogging!
Yet, thought of sharing some of my recent ‘me and my life’.
Like anyother person, I was too much excited when I was given the onsite opportunity in my project. It has been 8 months since I came here to Norwich, UK. The fascination for west and money did not spare me too. But what made me write such an article? Here goes…

If you are a person who would like to lead a peaceful, no-tension life(apart from work) then overseas is the best place for you to live. A lot of comfort, everything organised, a lot of money what else you would expect? But for a person like me who loves crowd, social life, challenges in day to day activities, the wrong place I have landed in.
Let me give you a brief agenda of my day to day life here.
Weekdays
I wake up, go to office, Work, lunch, return back, browse, eat, sleep.

Weekends
I wake up late in the morning, browse, watch movies, sleep

It pains even for repeating the text here, then how much pain you can imagine to do the same monotonous things everyday! But that is what life here. Ofcourse you can question me back why don’t I roam out! yes I can, but for how many days and how many times?

In what way this life is different from your life in india? I would say life led when you are in India with your family has some real ‘life’ in it. Not knowing what’s happening in my family, not able to join in any of the family get togethers, not getting the exact news even when someone falls sick…. is really a pain. I have to assume myself always that everyone is fine there. Even if someone is unwell, they think I may get disturbed and news doesn’t reach me!
I came across a Railway staff in London station who is an Indian(who was!!) He has been settled here for more than 10 years. He said proudly “I go once in three years to India to meet my parents”. I was literally shocked. Is that an acheivement? Life is just one and if you cant spend that with your loved ones then what for you should live? I apologize if I am too harsh!

One more incident that disturbed me. One of my colleague who is there at onshore for more than 4 years… happily. All of a sudden to everyone’s shock he sent a mail to the managers saying he wants to return to india permanently. Then we came to know that his mother was sick for quite a while. Din’t he knew this 2 years back? that he has to spend time with his family more and whats the point in running down to India to see when some one’s ill? What about the happy moments you have missed to spend with them all these days??

Money is not everything! These 8 months of loneliness has taught me that!
Life does not have any real ‘Life’ here. Hunt for something more that will keep you ‘alive’ !!

Snow in UK

Long time since I blogged. Yet have a lot to pendown now.

Last few weeks I experienced the first and worst snowfall in UK. Especially after my return from Chennai. I get up everyday in the mroning opening my window screen and ofcourse I never get disappointed as I am always gifted to see a beautiful snow white city. The first few days were very exciting walking and watching snow! But take my words, slowly snowfall brought a lot of pain than enjoyment. It is quite difficult to walk on roads when the snow becomes quite heavy. You wont know the glassy ice on the road hidden and we slip and skit badly when we don't have a proper shor/boot. I had experienced quite a lot of times, skipping and falling down repending 'why dint I wear a better shoe!'. In the first few days of this white scenes, I clicked a lot of pictures with my Camera. But slowly even that started giving a lot of pain, not allowing me to stand out in snow even for a few minutes.

One more big disadvantage is that, you can never go out to the city for shopping or even just to roam about. You need a glove, thick jacket and all other accessories that will keep us warm but that doesn't still really make you enjoy your walk out. Snow is always heaven to watch but hell to commute as one of my firend commented1 very true.

Now I am jus fine with some positive temperatures in the weather scale. Atleast I can go out and walk happily without a hand glove! And this becomes very important when you have planned a trip somewhere. yes, this month to Paris! Hoping to have a better time.
